Dress for Success: The Latest in Men’s Fashions

Like many other things men fight to keep from maturing, fashion seems to be one of them. Men tend to stay more youthful in their clothing selections (maybe it’s fear of the “dad” look). But you don’t need to look like a dad when you dress nicely. Now that it’s finally fall, it’s a good time to put some sleek fashion into your wardrobe.

Unfortunately, with older men overdoing the youthful look, it can be somewhat displeasing. But as a fashion enthusiast, I’m here to help! With the current trends being more formal than usual, it’s difficult for most men who tend to be low maintenance. But we can step away from the formal look and enter fall with a fresh and casual style that’s yet classy and mature (And you can attract the ladies).

Here are a few ways to make a change this fall:

Dress like an adult

Men tend to approach the casual look with too much youthfulness, and that’s where the problem lies. You can always dress in a mature manner, but still be youthful. You can wear a plain or striped t-shirt and jeans, and this represents maturity, class and style. Just because it’s time for your wardrobe to grow up doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun with your friends, go to the bar or do whatever it is you do. Just don’t look like a child (you won’t pick up chicks with Beavis and Butthead on your t-shirt).

Wear slim pants

It’s not the 1990’s, which means you don’t have to wear baggy pants like they do in the movie Clueless. And let’s be honest, is it really comfortable when you have to constantly pull up your pants? Whether you think it looks good, I can tell you, no one wants your smiley face imprinted boxers peaking out of the waistline of your pants, watching them enjoy a meal (I don’t like when someone watches me eat, do you?) The ideal casual look for a man would be slim pants with a belt. Just put on a t-shirt that compliments your jeans and you’re good to go!

Your shoes matter

If you think your shoes don’t matter, you might want to think again. If you’re going to wear sandals and socks, I’ll be honest when I say people will make fun of you (if you don’t care about that, that’s great for you) because let’s face it: It looks weird. If you’re a low maintenance kind of guy, sneakers will look just fine, especially if you’re just wearing a t-shirt and jeans. If you are looking to be less casual, dress shoes always look great!

Accessorize

No, I’m not going to tell you to carry the latest man purse. But a nice watch around your wrist will do just fine. Say your cell phone died and you really need to know the time, you’ll have it right on hand (no, that wasn’t meant to be a pun). Or even if you just want to accessorize, a watch is “manly” (if you were at all concerned about that), stylish and useful.

It’s time to do something about the superman t-shirt sitting in your closet. You don’t have to look like an old man to be fashionable and low maintenance. Dressing like an adult isn’t that complicated, maybe you just need some guidance.
